Gotion Indonesia and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) have strengthened their partnership with a shared commitment to advancing green maritime technology. This collaboration, formalized by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), sets the stage for electrifying Indonesia’s maritime industry, focusing on accessible and sustainable technology for all.
The relationship began on May 21-22, 2024, when Gotion Indonesia visited ITS, known for its renowned Department of Naval Architecture (DoNA). During this visit, Gotion’s representatives, Dimas Yunianto Putro and Arifa Sembiring, PhD, led a guest lecture titled “Ship Battery Technical Scheme,” highlighting the company’s progress in electric ship battery technology. This session, attended by ITS faculty and students, sparked productive discussions on potential collaborations in shipbuilding and related industries. It was an invaluable opportunity to explore how academia and industry can work together to support sustainable innovations in maritime technology.
Building on these discussions, the July MoU signing formalized a joint project to develop floating structures, electric fishing boats, and adaptable battery systems, ensuring these technologies are accessible to all, including small-scale fishermen. By combining ITS’s technical expertise with Gotion’s battery innovations, the collaboration aims to make sustainable energy solutions a viable part of everyday life, transforming maritime logistics and operations across Indonesia.
With initiatives ranging from hybrid backup solutions to affordable battery rental systems, Gotion Indonesia and ITS are driven by a unified vision of “Making Green Energy Accessible and Sustainable.” Together, they are advancing the boundaries of maritime technology, dedicated to creating a positive environmental impact and paving the way for a sustainable maritime future.
