Gotion High-Tech at the Asia Battery Technology Summit 2025

Jakarta, July 4, 2025 — the 3rd Asia Battery Technology Summit was grandly held at the Ayana Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mr. Qu Fengjun, General Manager of Gotion High-Tech Indonesia, was invited to attend and took part in the high-level forum themed “Accelerating Indonesia’s EV Revolution: Connecting Innovation, Technology & Innovation.”
As the region’s most strategic platform for electric vehicle innovation, the summit brought together key stakeholders across the EV value chain — from battery manufacturers and EV producers to government leaders and technology disruptors. Mr. Qu joined over 30 distinguished speakers and 300 senior executives to exchange insights on the future of battery technology and the critical role of energy storage in driving Indonesia’s EV ecosystem forward.
During the forum, Mr. Qu delivered an in-depth presentation highlighting the essential factors that make a country an ideal destination for battery manufacturing investment, as well as Indonesia’s strategic position within the region.
To become an ideal destination for battery manufacturing investment, a country must possess eight core factors:
- Abundant raw material resources
- A robust and localized supply chain
- Clear and stable policy support
- Low-cost and reliable energy supply
- Skilled and cost-efficient labor
- Favorable geographic and logistical conditions
- Transparent market access mechanisms
- A stable political and legal environment
Indonesia, he emphasized, stands out in Southeast Asia thanks to its unique advantages. As the world’s largest holder of nickel reserves, the country holds a vital strategic role in the global supply of high-nickel ternary battery materials. The government’s strong commitment to downstreaming its natural resources, paired with efforts to attract international capital to local smelting and materials production, positions Indonesia to develop a complete EV battery ecosystem — from precursors to cells and pack assembly.
In addition, Indonesia’s affordable labor market and growing population offer a powerful demographic advantage, supporting the creation of a regional supply chain hub. With the combined strengths of resource availability, government policy, and geographical positioning, Indonesia is becoming a strategic focal point for global battery investment.
Despite being in the early stages of its energy transition, Indonesia is making promising strides. One major challenge remains: a shortage of technological capabilities and professional talent in the new energy sector. In response, Gotion High-Tech Indonesia has implemented a local talent development program, regularly sending Indonesian employees to the company’s headquarters in China for training in advanced technology, production management, and quality control. These trained individuals bring their skills back to Indonesia, where they are applied to real-world operations — steadily enhancing the local team’s expertise and contributing to the broader sustainable growth of the industry.

Looking ahead, Gotion High-Tech Indonesia remains committed to growing its local footprint while connecting with global partners. By leveraging its strengths in technology, talent cultivation, and resource integration, the company aims to support the high-quality development of Indonesia’s new energy sector and contribute meaningfully to the country’s bold ambition to become a global hub for battery manufacturing.
