Gotion High-Tech Reaches New Milestone with Mass Production of Unified Cell for Volkswagen Group
Gotion High-Tech has achieved a major breakthrough in its long-term partnership with Volkswagen Group and PowerCo by officially commencing mass production and delivery of the Unified Cell (UC). This marks a pivotal moment in the companies’ five-year joint development journey, now progressing into full-scale industrialization.
The Unified Cell produced at Gotion’s Hefei manufacturing base is engineered to meet advanced global benchmarks in energy density, safety, and cost efficiency. Designed with a high level of compatibility, the UC supports multiple battery chemistries and aligns seamlessly with diverse electric vehicle (EV) platforms—making it a core component of Volkswagen’s next-generation EV architecture.
As part of the strategic framework extending from 2026 to 2032, Gotion High-Tech will continue supplying high-performance LFP and other standardized cell solutions to Volkswagen Group worldwide. This ensures a stable and scalable supply chain capable of supporting Volkswagen’s global expansion in the EV market.
The launch of mass UC production not only reinforces Volkswagen’s “Make-and-Buy” global battery strategy but also further positions Gotion High-Tech as a critical technology partner in enabling accessible, safe, and competitive electric mobility on a global scale. Through this collaboration, both companies are advancing the future of battery innovation—anchored on reliability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
